Events in this division are designed for students currently in grades 3 through 5.
Science Terms Spelling Bee
IndividualA spelling bee focused on science vocabulary. Students are tested on their command of key scientific terms from life science, earth science, and physical science.
STEM Test
IndividualA comprehensive written exam covering foundational science, technology, engineering, and mathematics topics appropriate for grades 3–5.
Math Relay
TeamTeams of students solve a sequence of math problems in a relay format. Each correct answer unlocks the next problem — speed and accuracy both count.
EnviroQuiz
IndividualAn environmental science quiz competition covering ecology, conservation, natural systems, and earth science. Questions are read aloud and answered by buzzing in.
Catapult
TeamParticipants design and build a small catapult from provided materials, then compete to launch a projectile for accuracy and distance. Engineering and measurement skills are tested.
Older Division
Events in this division are designed for students currently in grades 6 through 8.
Science Terms Spelling Bee
IndividualAn advanced spelling bee featuring college-level and professional scientific terminology across biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering disciplines.
STEM Test
IndividualA rigorous written exam spanning all STEM disciplines. Questions are designed to challenge students with real conceptual understanding, not just memorization.
Math Relay
TeamA fast-paced team math challenge. Problems span algebra, geometry, and number theory. Teams must coordinate strategy to maximize their score.
Bridge Building
TeamTeams design and construct model bridges from a set of provided materials within a time limit. Bridges are evaluated on load-bearing strength and material efficiency.
